Banana Chamomile Smoothie: Recipe, Benefits, and How-To

  • Total Time: 7 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A soothing Banana Chamomile Smoothie for relaxation. Combines chamomile tea and bananas for a creamy, flavorful drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas, preferably frozen
  • 1 cup brewed chamomile tea, cooled
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, such as almond, soy, or oat)
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (optional, for added creaminess and protein)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon
  • A few ice cubes (optional, if not using frozen bananas)
  • Chamomile flowers for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew the Tea: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add 1-2 chamomile tea bags or 1-2 teaspoons of loose-leaf chamomile flowers to the hot water. Cover and steep for 5-7 minutes. Strain and cool completely.
  2. Prepare the Bananas: Peel and slice the bananas. If using fresh bananas, add extra ice cubes.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Add the sliced bananas, cooled chamomile tea, milk, Greek yogurt (if using), honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and cinnamon to your blender.
  4. Blend: Secure the lid and blend on low speed, gradually increasing to high speed, until smooth and creamy (1-2 minutes). Add more liquid if too thick, or more frozen fruit/ice if too thin.
  5. Taste and Adjust: Taste and adjust sweetness or flavor as needed.
  6. Serve: Pour into a glass or mason jar. Garnish with chamomile flowers or cinnamon, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For best results, use frozen bananas for a thick and creamy texture.
  • Cool the chamomile tea completely before blending to prevent affecting the smoothie’s texture.
  • Adjust the sweetness and consistency to your preference.
  • Experiment with variations like adding greens, protein powder, nut butter, seeds, or berries.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but the texture may change.
  • If the smoothie is too thick, add more liquid. If it’s too thin, add more frozen fruit or ice.
