Description
Enjoy a classic Banana Split, featuring ripe bananas, three scoops of ice cream, and a variety of delicious toppings. This delightful dessert combines creamy, fruity, and crunchy elements, making it perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe bananas
- 1 cup vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup chocolate ice cream
- 1 cup strawberry ice cream
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 1/2 cup chocolate syrup
- 1/2 cup strawberry syrup
- 1/2 cup crushed nuts (walnuts or peanuts)
- Maraschino cherries (for garnish)
- Fresh strawberries (for garnish)
- Chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Select four ripe bananas that are slightly speckled and firm. Peel them carefully and slice each banana in half lengthwise.
- Let the vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to soften. Scoop one generous scoop of each flavor and place them in the center of a long serving dish or banana boat.
- Place the halved bananas on either side of the ice cream scoops. Generously dollop whipped cream on top of each scoop.
- Drizzle chocolate syrup over the chocolate ice cream and strawberry syrup over the strawberry ice cream. Optionally, drizzle chocolate syrup over the vanilla ice cream.
- Sprinkle crushed nuts over the whipped cream and ice cream. Top each scoop with a maraschino cherry. Add fresh strawberries around the dish for garnish and sprinkle chocolate shavings if desired.
- Serve immediately with spoons. For a crowd, consider making individual banana splits in small bowls or cups. Store any leftover ingredients in the fridge, but be mindful that bananas may brown if left out for too long.
Notes
- For a fun twist, add toppings like sprinkles, crushed cookies, or caramel sauce.
- Substitute ice cream with frozen yogurt or sorbet for a healthier option.
- Experiment with different ice cream flavors like mint chocolate chip or cookies and cream.
- For an adventurous twist, add a layer of peanut butter or Nutella between the ice cream scoops.
