Description

A quick and delicious Beef and Broccoli Bowl featuring tender marinated beef, vibrant broccoli, and fluffy rice, all tossed in a savory sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound of beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 cups of broccoli florets
  • 1 cup of cooked rice (white or brown, your choice)
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (divided)
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
  • Green onions, chopped for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Add the sliced beef, ensuring each piece is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes (up to an hour for deeper flavor).
  2. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop cooking, then drain and set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer (cook in batches if necessary). Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add minced garlic and ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the blanched broccoli and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Return the cooked beef to the skillet, mixing with the broccoli. Drizzle sesame oil over the mixture, stirring to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Place a scoop of cooked rice in each bowl. Top with the beef and broccoli mixture, ensuring even distribution. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy with your favorite side dishes or sauces. Customize with additional vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for extra nutrition.
