Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can of Pillsbury Crescent Roll Dough (or any similar dough)
- 6 breakfast sausage links (or sausage patties)
- 6 large eggs (scrambled)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or preferred cheese)
- 2 tbsp butter or egg wash (optional, for brushing dough)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Optional Add-ins:
- 2 slices of cooked bacon (for extra flavor)
- 1/2 cup sautéed spinach or bell peppers
- 1/4 cup cooked mushrooms
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. - Cook the Sausages:
Cook the sausages in a skillet or bake them in the oven according to the package instructions. Once cooked, set them aside to cool slightly. - Scramble the Eggs:
In a bowl, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. Scramble them in a non-stick pan until fully cooked, then set aside. - Assemble the Rolls:
Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into individual triangles. At the wide end of each triangle, place a cooked sausage link, a spoonful of scrambled eggs, and a sprinkle of cheese. Roll the dough tightly around the fillings, pinching the ends to seal. - Bake:
Place the rolled-up pigs on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they’re spaced apart. Brush the tops with melted butter or egg wash for a golden finish. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the dough is golden and crispy. - Serve:
Allow the breakfast pigs in a blanket to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with your favorite dips such as maple syrup, ketchup, or sriracha mayo.
Notes
- Make-Ahead: You can assemble the pigs in a blanket ahead of time and refrigerate them for up to 24 hours before baking. Alternatively, you can freeze the unbaked rolls and bake them directly from the freezer (just add a few extra minutes to the baking time).
- Customizations: Feel free to add other ingredients like cooked bacon, sautéed vegetables, or different cheese varieties to suit your tastes. For a vegetarian version, swap the sausage for a plant-based alternative.
