Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Optional toppings: pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, etc.
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, oregano, and garlic powder.
- Pour the frothy yeast mixture into the dry ingredients, add olive oil, and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Form the dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Grease a large sheet pan (about 18×13 inches) with olive oil.
- Punch down the risen dough, transfer it to the greased sheet pan, and stretch it to fit the pan.
- Form a slight ridge around the edges of the dough.
- Spoon pizza sauce over the dough, leaving edges clear for the crust.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese and optional seasonings on top.
- Distribute any additional toppings evenly across the pizza.
- Place the sheet pan in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden.
- After 15 minutes, check the pizza; if needed, bake a few more minutes.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
- Slice the pizza into squares or triangles and serve hot.
Notes
- For a crispier crust, you can pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding the sauce and toppings.
- Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences or what you have on hand.
