- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
- Fresh berries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or butter.
- Open the cans of refrigerated cinnamon rolls and set aside the icing packets.
- Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cut cinnamon rolls with melted butter, ground cinnamon, and chopped nuts (if using). Toss gently to coat.
- Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs until well beaten.
- Add the whole milk, vanilla extract, ground nutmeg, and salt. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces. Press down gently to ensure they soak up the mixture.
- Let it sit for 10-15 minutes to absorb.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center. Check with a toothpick for doneness.
- While baking, warm the maple syrup in a small saucepan over low heat.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Drizzle the warmed maple syrup over the top.
- Dust with powdered sugar if desired and garnish with fresh berries.
- Cut into squares and serve warm.
