Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ½ cups (420g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 ¼ cups (300ml) warm water (105-115°F or 40-46°C)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for greasing
- ½ cup (1 stick or 113g) unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional, but adds a nice warmth)
- 4 ounces (113g) cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup (30g) powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk, or more as needed for desired consistency
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and sugar.
- In a separate small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Let it stand for 5-10 minutes, or until foamy.
- Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Use a wooden spoon or your hands to mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 6-8 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Add more flour or water as needed.
- Lightly grease a large bowl with olive oil. Place the dough in the bowl, turning to coat. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has doubled, gently punch it down to release the air.
- Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl or in a saucepan over low heat.
- In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Mix well.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven while it preheats.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a large circle or oval, about 12-14 inches in diameter.
- Carefully transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper.
- Brush the melted butter evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edge.
- Generously sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the buttered dough.
- Carefully slide the parchment paper with the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cinnamon sugar is bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before slicing.
- Make sure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature.
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until well combined.
- Add the milk, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Once the pizza has cooled slightly, drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the top.
