Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin powder
- 3 tablespoons cold water
- Pinch of salt
- Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir gently until the sugar has completely dissolved (about 3-5 minutes). Avoid boiling.
- Add the instant coffee granules to the cream mixture and stir until fully dissolved and smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
- In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin powder over the cold water and let it bloom for about 5 minutes.
- Return the saucepan to low heat and add the bloomed gelatin, stirring continuously until completely dissolved (about 2-3 minutes). Do not boil.
- Let the mixture cool for 10-15 minutes to prevent condensation when pouring into molds.
- Prepare your serving molds (ramekins, glasses, or a large mold). Lightly grease if using glass or ceramic.
- Pour the mixture into the molds, filling each about 3/4 full.
- Cover with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, until set.
- To unmold, run a small knife around the edge. Dip the bottom of the mold in warm water for 10 seconds.
- Place a serving plate over the mold and invert quickly. Gently lift the mold off.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder if desired.
- Serve chilled and enjoy!
Notes
- For added flavor, consider incorporating coffee liqueur or flavored syrups into the cream mixture.
- This panna cotta pairs beautifully with espresso or whipped cream for an extra indulgent experience.
