Ingredients
Scale
- 2 shots of freshly brewed espresso
- 1 cup of cold milk (whole or your preferred alternative)
- 1 tablespoon of sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
- Ice cubes
- Cocoa powder or cinnamon for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Start by brewing two shots of espresso using freshly ground coffee beans for the best flavor. Aim for a fine grind and pack it tightly into the portafilter.
- Turn on your espresso machine and let it heat up for a few minutes. Once ready, lock the portafilter in place and start brewing. You should see a rich, dark liquid flowing out, with a nice crema on top.
- Once brewed, set the espresso aside to cool slightly to prevent the milk from curdling when mixed.
- While the espresso is cooling, pour your cold milk into a frothing pitcher or any container with a spout.
- Use a milk frother to froth the milk until its light and airy. If you dont have a frother, shake the milk vigorously in a jar with a lid or whisk it to create foam.
- If you prefer your cappuccino freddo sweetened, add the sugar to the milk before frothing to help it dissolve better.
- Grab a tall glass and fill it with ice cubes, about halfway for a nice cold drink.
- Pour the cooled espresso over the ice to chill it further.
- Gently pour the frothed milk over the espresso, using a spoon to help layer the milk on top for a beautiful presentation.
- Optionally, sprinkle cocoa powder or cinnamon on top for added flavor and visual appeal.
- Give your cappuccino freddo a gentle stir to mix the layers slightly, being careful not to disturb the froth too much.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness if necessary, adding more sugar if desired and stirring gently.
- Serve immediately with a straw or spoon, and enjoy your refreshing espresso cappuccino freddo!
