Indulge in the crispy delight of Fried Burrata, featuring creamy burrata encased in a crunchy exterior, served with a spicy tomato sauce. This impressive appetizer is perfect for entertaining or a satisfying snack. Enjoy the contrast of textures and flavors in every bite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large burrata balls
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Carefully remove the burrata from its packaging and pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Set up a breading station: In one shallow dish, add flour seasoned with salt and pepper. In a second dish, beat the eggs. In a third dish, place the breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat each burrata ball in flour, shaking off excess, then dip in beaten eggs, and finally roll in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Set aside.
  4. For the spicy sauce, heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, red pepper flakes, and sugar. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning as needed and set aside.
  6. In a large skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Test with a small piece of bread; it should sizzle.
  7. Carefully lower one burrata ball into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, turning gently for even cooking. Remove and drain on paper towels. Repeat with the second burrata ball.
  8. To serve, spoon spicy sauce onto a plate, place fried burrata on top, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
  9. Serve immediately while warm, and enjoy the creamy, gooey interior with the spicy sauce.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes in the sauce to suit your spice preference.
  • Pair with crusty bread or fresh vegetables for dipping.
  • This dish is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for a day.
