Description
Cool down with this refreshing Frozen Mojito! This easy recipe blends fresh mint, lime, rum, and ice into a perfectly slushy and flavorful cocktail.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh mint leaves, packed
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup fresh lime juice (about 6–8 limes)
- 1 ½ cups white rum (adjust to your preference)
- 4 cups ice cubes
- Lime wedges and mint sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
- Combine Mint, Sugar, and Water: In a small saucepan, combine the mint leaves, sugar, and water.
- Heat and Stir: Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Simmer: Once the sugar is dissolved, bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes. This allows the mint flavor to infuse into the syrup.
- Remove from Heat: Take the saucepan off the heat and let the mint steep in the syrup for at least 30 minutes. The longer it steeps, the stronger the mint flavor will be. You can even let it steep for an hour or two for a more intense minty taste.
- Strain the Syrup: After steeping, strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a heat-proof container. Discard the mint leaves. You should have a beautiful, mint-infused simple syrup.
- Cool Completely: Allow the syrup to cool completely before using it in your mojitos. You can store the cooled syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- Combine Ingredients in Blender: In a high-powered blender, combine the cooled mint simple syrup, lime juice, rum, and ice cubes.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and slushy. This may take a minute or two, depending on the strength of your blender. If the mixture seems too thick, add a splash of water or lime juice to help it blend. If it’s too thin, add a few more ice cubes.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the blended mojito and adjust the flavors as needed. If it’s not sweet enough, add a little more simple syrup. If it’s too sweet, add a squeeze of lime juice. If it needs more of a kick, add a splash more rum. Remember, you’re the bartender, so make it perfect for your taste!
- Prepare Glasses: Get your glasses ready. You can chill them in the freezer for a few minutes before serving to keep the mojitos extra cold.
- Pour the Mojitos: Pour the blended mojitos into the prepared glasses.
- Garnish Generously: Garnish each glass with a lime wedge and a sprig of fresh mint. You can also add a sugar cane stick for an extra touch of authenticity.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the frozen mojitos immediately and enjoy! They’re best when they’re freshly blended and icy cold.
Notes
- For a stronger mint flavor, let the mint steep in the simple syrup for a longer period (up to 2 hours).
- Adjust the amount of rum to your preference.
- If the mojito is too thick, add a splash of water or lime juice. If it’s too thin, add more ice.
- Get creative with variations! Try adding strawberries, pineapple, or mango for a fruity twist.
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the rum and substitute with club soda or sparkling water.
