Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Clean the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water, ensuring they are peeled and deveined. Pat dry with a paper towel.
- Prepare the Asparagus: Snap off the woody ends of the asparagus and cut into 2-inch pieces.
- Season the Shrimp: Toss the shrimp with a pinch of salt and pepper in a bowl.
- Heat the Pan: In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat until foamy.
- Sauté the Asparagus: Add asparagus to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Add More Butter: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and let it melt.
- Sauté the Garlic: Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Cook the Shrimp: Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until pink and opaque. Flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Add Red Pepper Flakes: If desired, sprinkle in red pepper flakes and stir to combine.
- Return Asparagus to the Skillet: Add the sautéed asparagus back to the skillet and toss gently to combine.
- Add Lemon Juice: Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the mixture and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Plate the Dish: Transfer the shrimp and asparagus to a serving platter, drizzling any remaining garlic butter sauce over the top.
- Garnish: Sprinkle with chopped parsley for color and freshness.
- Serve Immediately: Enjoy hot, paired with rice, pasta, or crusty bread.
Notes
- Choosing Shrimp: Opt for firm shrimp with a mild ocean scent. Avoid any that smell overly fishy.
