Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F or 43°C)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for brushing)
- 1/4 cup honey (for drizzling)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, honey, and the egg. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to this bowl and stir until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough gently to release the air.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise for about 30-45 minutes, or until puffed up.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Mix the softened butter and honey in a small bowl.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with the honey butter mixture as soon as they come out of the oven.
- Drizzle additional honey over the rolls while still warm.
- Allow the rolls to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before serving.
