Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound of chicken breast, diced
- 1 cup of macaroni pasta
- 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of honey
- 1 tablespoon of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs (for topping)
- 2 tablespoons of butter, melted (for topping)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the diced chicken breast, honey, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated with the marinade.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat.
- Add the macaroni pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- Drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken to the skillet.
- Cook the chicken for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cooked through and golden brown. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Remove the skillet from heat and set the chicken aside.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the milk. Stir well to combine with the juices.
- Gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring continuously until melted and smooth, about 3-5 minutes. Adjust consistency with more milk if needed.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to coat evenly.
- Fold in the cooked chicken until well combined. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Combine breadcrumbs with melted butter in a small bowl and sprinkle over the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving and garnish with chopped parsley.
