Ingredients
Scale
- 3 oz Prosecco
- 2 oz elderflower liqueur (such as St-Germain)
- 1 oz soda water
- Fresh mint leaves (about 5-6 leaves)
- 1 lime (cut into wedges)
- Ice cubes
- Optional: additional mint sprigs and lime slices for garnish
Instructions
- Gather Your Ingredients: Start by collecting all the ingredients listed above. Make sure you have everything on hand to make the process smooth and enjoyable.
- Prepare the Mint: Take about 5-6 fresh mint leaves and gently rinse them under cold water. Pat them dry with a paper towel to help release their aromatic oils when muddled.
- Cut the Lime: Cut your lime into wedges, reserving a couple for garnish.
- Get Your Glassware Ready: Choose a large wine glass or a highball glass for serving your Hugo Spritz. Ensure they are clean and ready to go.
- Muddle the Mint and Lime: In your chosen glass, add the mint leaves and 1-2 lime wedges. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down to release their juices and flavors without shredding the mint.
- Add Ice: Fill the glass with ice cubes, preferably large ones to slow down melting.
- Pour in the Elderflower Liqueur: Measure out 2 oz of elderflower liqueur and pour it over the ice.
- Add the Prosecco: Pour in 3 oz of Prosecco, allowing the bubbles to mix with the liqueur.
- Top with Soda Water: Add 1 oz of soda water to lighten the drink.
- Stir Gently: Using a long spoon or straw, gently stir the mixture to combine without losing the bubbles.
- Add More Mint and Lime: Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a slice of lime if desired.
- Serve Immediately: Enjoy your Hugo Spritz while its still cold and bubbly.
