Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 ounces egg noodles
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup carrots, julienned
- 1 cup bell pepper, sliced (any color)
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat.
- Once boiling, add the egg noodles and cook according to package instructions, usually about 6-8 minutes, until al dente.
- Stir occasionally to prevent the noodles from sticking together.
- Once cooked, drain the noodles in a colander and rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula or wooden spoon.
- Cook the beef for about 5-7 minutes, or until it is browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
- Stir in the julienned carrots, sliced bell pepper, and broccoli florets into the skillet.
- Cook the vegetables for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are tender but still crisp.
- Keep the heat at medium-high to ensure the vegetables cook evenly without becoming mushy.
- In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetable mixture in the skillet, stirring to coat everything evenly.
- Let the mixture simmer for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Add the cooked egg noodles to the skillet with the beef and vegetable mixture.
- Gently toss everything together using tongs or a large spoon, ensuring the noodles are well coated with the sauce and mixed with the beef and vegetables.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the noodles to heat through and absorb some of the sauce.
- Once everything is heated through, taste the dish and adjust seasoning if necessary. Add more soy sauce or a pinch of salt if desired.
- Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the Mongolian ground beef noodles to a serving platter or individual bowls.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added flavor and presentation.
- Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Mongolian ground beef noodles!
Notes
- Feel free to customize the vegetables based on your preference or what you have on hand. Snow peas, snap peas, or zucchini can also be great additions.
- If you prefer a spicier dish, consider adding more red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
