Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned
  • 1 cup bell pepper, sliced (any color)
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat.
  2. Once boiling, add the egg noodles and cook according to package instructions, usually about 6-8 minutes, until al dente.
  3. Stir occasionally to prevent the noodles from sticking together.
  4. Once cooked, drain the noodles in a colander and rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
  5. In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  6. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula or wooden spoon.
  7. Cook the beef for about 5-7 minutes, or until it is browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  8. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
  9. Stir in the julienned carrots, sliced bell pepper, and broccoli florets into the skillet.
  10. Cook the vegetables for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are tender but still crisp.
  11. Keep the heat at medium-high to ensure the vegetables cook evenly without becoming mushy.
  12. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  13. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  14. Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetable mixture in the skillet, stirring to coat everything evenly.
  15. Let the mixture simmer for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  16. Add the cooked egg noodles to the skillet with the beef and vegetable mixture.
  17. Gently toss everything together using tongs or a large spoon, ensuring the noodles are well coated with the sauce and mixed with the beef and vegetables.
  18. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the noodles to heat through and absorb some of the sauce.
  19. Once everything is heated through, taste the dish and adjust seasoning if necessary. Add more soy sauce or a pinch of salt if desired.
  20. Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the Mongolian ground beef noodles to a serving platter or individual bowls.
  21. Garnish with chopped green onions and sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added flavor and presentation.
  22. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Mongolian ground beef noodles!

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the vegetables based on your preference or what you have on hand. Snow peas, snap peas, or zucchini can also be great additions.
