Savor the deliciousness of Pizza Burgers, featuring juicy beef patties topped with marinara sauce, melted mozzarella, and optional pepperoni, all served in toasted buns. Ideal for family dinners or game day, these burgers combine the best of pizza and burgers for a fun and satisfying meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup sliced pepperoni (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Olive oil for brushing

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty slightly larger than the hamburger buns.
  3. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.
  4. Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat, ensuring the grates are clean and lightly oiled.
  5. Place the patties on the cooking surface and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them.
  6. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. The internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness.
  7. In the last minute of cooking, spoon about ¼ cup of marinara sauce over each patty and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese. Add pepperoni if desired.
  8. Cover with a lid to help the cheese melt for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  9. Brush the cut sides of the buns with olive oil or melted butter if desired.
  10. Toast the buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
  11. Remove the cooked patties from the grill or skillet and let them rest for a minute.
  12. On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a patty with melted cheese and marinara sauce.
  13. Add any additional toppings like fresh basil, extra pepperoni, or sliced olives.
  14. Top with the other half of the bun.
  15. Serve immediately while hot and cheesy, paired with French fries, potato wedges, or a fresh salad.
  16. Offer additional marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
  17. Provide a variety of toppings like sliced jalapeños, diced onions, or crushed red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
  18. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  19. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes, or microwave for 1-2 minutes (note: this may soften the bun).
