Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup brewed coffee (hot or cold)
- 1 scoop protein powder (whey, plant-based, or your preferred type)
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sweetener of choice (honey, maple syrup, stevia, or sugar)
- 1/4 cup milk or milk alternative (almond, oat, soy, etc.)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Ice cubes (if making iced protein coffee)
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Cinnamon or cocoa powder (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Brew your favorite coffee using a coffee maker, French press, or any method you prefer. Aim for a strong brew, especially if making iced coffee, and let it cool if necessary.
- While the coffee is brewing, select your protein powder. Whey protein is recommended for its creamy texture, but plant-based options are also great. Check the flavor; vanilla or chocolate works well.
- In a bowl or shaker, add the scoop of protein powder. If using cocoa powder for a mocha flavor, add it now. Include your chosen sweetener for natural sweetness.
- Pour in the milk or milk alternative into the protein powder mixture. If using vanilla extract, add it now. Whisk or shake vigorously until well combined and smooth.
- Once your coffee is ready, pour it into a large mug or glass. Slowly add the protein mixture to the coffee while stirring continuously to avoid clumps.
- Taste your protein coffee and adjust sweetness or flavor as needed. Add more sweetener for sweetness or more brewed coffee for a stronger flavor.
- For hot protein coffee, top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa powder. For iced coffee, fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the protein coffee over the ice, adding whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- Customize your protein coffee with different flavors of protein powder or flavored syrups.
- Add a tablespoon of nut butter for healthy fats and extra protein.
- Consider superfood additions like spirulina or matcha for added health benefits.
- For cold brew, steep coffee in the fridge overnight for a smoother flavor.
