Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Optional: fresh chives or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and cooked breakfast sausage. Ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
- Using a fork or a hand mixer, blend the cream cheese and sausage until well combined and creamy.
- Add the shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix until evenly distributed.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Open the package of refrigerated crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a clean, flat surface.
- Separate the dough into 8 individual triangles along the perforated lines.
- Take about 1 tablespoon of the sausage and cream cheese filling and place it at the wide end of each triangle.
- Starting from the wide end, gently roll the triangle towards the pointed end, tucking in the sides as you roll.
- Place the rolled crescents on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced out for expansion.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet.
- Transfer the crescents to a serving platter and garnish with freshly chopped chives or parsley if desired.
- Serve warm as an appetizer, breakfast treat, or snack. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Notes
- For a spicier version, consider adding diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes to the filling.
- Feel free to experiment with different cheeses or add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for added flavor and nutrition.
