Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: fresh chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and cooked breakfast sausage. Ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  2. Using a fork or a hand mixer, blend the cream cheese and sausage until well combined and creamy.
  3. Add the shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix until evenly distributed.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Open the package of refrigerated crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a clean, flat surface.
  6. Separate the dough into 8 individual triangles along the perforated lines.
  7. Take about 1 tablespoon of the sausage and cream cheese filling and place it at the wide end of each triangle.
  8. Starting from the wide end, gently roll the triangle towards the pointed end, tucking in the sides as you roll.
  9. Place the rolled crescents on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced out for expansion.
  10. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
  12. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet.
  13. Transfer the crescents to a serving platter and garnish with freshly chopped chives or parsley if desired.
  14. Serve warm as an appetizer, breakfast treat, or snack. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, consider adding diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • Feel free to experiment with different cheeses or add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for added flavor and nutrition.
