- 1 cup mayonnaise (full-fat recommended)
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed preferred)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1 tablespoon pickle juice (from sweet pickle relish jar)
Instructions
- Mixing the Base: In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Adding the Spices: Sprinkle in garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Squeeze in lemon juice. Grind in black pepper. Add salt.
- The Secret Ingredient: Add the pickle juice.
- Mixing and Chilling: Whisk all ingredients together until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (preferably an hour) to allow flavors to meld.
- Serve with fries, onion rings, burgers, chicken nuggets, tacos, or as a salad dressing.
Notes
- For a spicier sauce, add more cayenne pepper or hot sauce.
- For a sweeter sauce, add a teaspoon of sugar or honey.
- For a tangier sauce, add more lemon juice or vinegar.
