  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These shrimp tacos feature marinated shrimp, fresh veggies, and warm tortillas, making them ideal for a quick dinner or festive occasion. Topped with creamy avocado and zesty lime, they are a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage (green or purple)
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (optional)
  • Hot sauce, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water to remove any residual salt or debris. Pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create a marinade.
  3. Add the shrimp to the bowl and toss until evenly coated. Allow to marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the marinated shrimp in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until pink and opaque, then flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. Remove from skillet and cover with aluminum foil to keep warm.
  6. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add more olive oil if desired.
  7. Warm each tortilla for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable and slightly toasted. Stack on a plate and cover with a kitchen towel.
  8. Place a generous amount of shredded cabbage in the center of a warm tortilla.
  9. Add 3-4 shrimp on top of the cabbage.
  10. Top with diced tomatoes and chopped cilantro.
  11. Add avocado slices and drizzle with sour cream or Greek yogurt if desired. Add hot sauce for extra kick.
  12. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the assembled tacos.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, increase the amount of chili powder or add diced jalapeños to the tacos.
  • Feel free to customize toppings based on your preferences, such as adding cheese or different vegetables.
