  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Deliciously tender bone-in pork chops are smothered in a creamy gravy made with sautéed onions, garlic, and spices. This comforting dish is perfect for family dinners and pairs wonderfully with your favorite sides.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the pork chops generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Dredge each pork chop in flour, ensuring they are evenly coated. Shake off excess flour and set aside.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the floured pork chops.
  4. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F/63°C). Remove from skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent and slightly caramelized.
  6. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently.
  7. Pour in chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet to deglaze.
  8. Stir in heavy cream, dried thyme, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.
  9. Bring to a gentle simmer and allow to thicken for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  10. Return the pork chops to the skillet, nestling them into the gravy. Spoon gravy over the chops.
  11. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  12. Transfer pork chops to a serving platter and pour remaining gravy over them.
  13. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve hot with sides like mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate pork chops in garlic, herbs, and olive oil before cooking.
  • Add mushrooms or bell peppers to the onion and garlic mixture for extra texture.
  • For thicker gravy, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 2 tablespoons cold water and stir into the gravy during simmering.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
