  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 1 cocktail 1x

Description

This Spicy Paloma combines tequila, fresh lime juice, and jalapeño-infused simple syrup, topped with grapefruit soda for a refreshing and zesty cocktail experience. Perfect for those who enjoy a little heat in their drinks!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz tequila (preferably blanco)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 3 oz grapefruit soda (like Squirt or Fresca)
  • 1 oz jalapeño-infused simple syrup
  • Salt for rimming the glass
  • Fresh lime wedges for garnish
  • Fresh jalapeño slices for garnish (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for simple syrup)
  • 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 12 fresh jalapeños, sliced (for simple syrup)

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients: For the jalapeño-infused simple syrup, you will need sugar, water, and sliced jalapeños.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Once dissolved, add the sliced jalapeños and bring to a gentle simmer.
  4. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, adjusting time for desired spice level. Keep an eye on it to prevent boiling over.
  5. Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean jar, discarding jalapeño slices. Cool completely before using. Store in the refrigerator for up to a month.
  6. Rim your glass with salt by running a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it into salt.
  7. Add ice cubes to the prepared glass.
  8. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, fresh lime juice, and jalapeño-infused simple syrup. For extra spice, add more jalapeño slices.
  9. Fill the shaker with ice, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
  10. Use a fine mesh strainer to pour the mixture over the ice in your glass.
  11. Gently pour grapefruit soda over the cocktail mixture.
  12. Garnish with a fresh lime wedge and optional jalapeño slices.

Notes

  • Pairing Suggestions: This Spicy Paloma pairs well with spicy nachos, guacamole, or shrimp tacos.
  • Adjusting Spice Levels: Offer a non-infused syrup for guests who prefer milder drinks, and provide extra jalapeño slices for customization.
  • Batch Preparation: Scale the recipe for parties by multiplying ingredients and preparing the syrup in advance. Mix cocktails in a pitcher, adding soda just before serving.
