  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A refreshing Strawberry Lime Vodka Smash, perfect for summer! Fresh strawberries and lime are muddled, shaken with vodka and simple syrup, topped with club soda, and garnished.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • 2 ounces vodka (smooth, high-quality recommended)
  • 1 ounce simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves, then cooled)
  • 4 ounces club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime slices and whole strawberries, for garnish (optional)
  • Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Muddle the Strawberries and Lime: In a sturdy cocktail shaker, add the hulled strawberries and 4 lime wedges. Using a muddler, gently but firmly press and twist the strawberries and lime to release their juices. Muddle for about 30-45 seconds.
  2. Add Simple Syrup: Pour in the simple syrup. Adjust amount to taste.
  3. Pour in the Vodka: Add the vodka to the cocktail shaker.
  4. Add Ice: Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes (about ¾ full).
  5. Shake Vigorously: Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
  6. Prepare Your Glass: Fill a highball glass or rocks glass with ice cubes.
  7. Strain the Mixture: Using a cocktail strainer, strain the strawberry-lime-vodka mixture into the prepared glass.
  8. Top with Club Soda: Top the glass with club soda or sparkling water. Gently stir to combine.
  9. Garnish: Garnish with a lime slice, a whole strawberry, and a sprig of fresh mint (optional).

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup.
  • Experiment with different berries like raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries.
  • Add herbs like basil or rosemary for a more complex flavor.
  • For a spicy kick, add a slice of jalapeño to the shaker.
  • Use flavored vodka (strawberry or lime) to enhance the flavors.
  • Omit the vodka for a non-alcoholic mocktail.
  • Infuse vodka with strawberries for a deeper flavor.
  • This recipe can be scaled up for a big batch.
  • Frozen strawberries can be used in a pinch.
  • Use a smooth, high-quality vodka for the best flavor.
  • Fresh ingredients are key to a flavorful drink.
  • Serve with fresh fruit skewers, cheese and crackers, mini quiches, or guacamole and chips.
  • To make simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan, heat until sugar dissolves, and cool completely. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
