Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, oat, etc.)
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 1/2 cup hot water (not boiling)
- Ice cubes (optional, for iced version)
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- In a blender, combine the sliced strawberries and honey (or maple syrup). Adjust the sweetener to your preference.
- Blend on high speed until smooth. If too thick, add a splash of water to help blend.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary, then set aside the puree. Store in the fridge if not using immediately.
- In a small bowl, sift the matcha powder using a fine mesh sieve to avoid clumps.
- Pour in the hot water (ideally around 175°F or 80°C).
- Whisk the matcha and water together in a zigzag motion until frothy and well combined. Use a bamboo whisk, milk frother, or small electric blender.
- Set the prepared matcha aside to cool if making an iced version.
- In a glass, add a few tablespoons of the strawberry puree at the bottom.
- For an iced version, fill the glass with ice cubes until halfway full.
- Pour the milk of your choice over the strawberry puree.
- Gently pour the prepared matcha over the milk for a layered effect or stir for a blended look.
- Optionally, top with whipped cream for an indulgent treat.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves or strawberry slices for a pop of color.
- Stir gently before enjoying!
Notes
- Use high-quality matcha powder for the best flavor; ceremonial grade is ideal.
- Ripe, fresh strawberries yield the best flavor; frozen can be used in a pinch.
- Adjust sweetness to your liking; experiment with different sweeteners if desired.
- Almond or oat milk are recommended for a creamy texture.
