Strawberry Mojito: The Perfect Summer Cocktail Recipe

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A sweet and bubbly cocktail with fresh mint, lime, strawberries, white rum, and club soda, offering a refreshing twist on the classic mojito.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 lime, cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or simple syrup to taste)
  • 68 fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • Ice cubes
  • Club soda, to top
  • Strawberry slice and mint sprig, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Muddle the Mint and Lime: In a sturdy glass (a highball glass works perfectly), gently muddle the mint leaves, lime wedges, and sugar together. Press down and twist a few times to release the mint’s aroma and the lime’s juice without shredding the mint leaves.
  2. Add the Strawberries: Add the quartered strawberries to the glass. Muddle them gently with the mint, lime, and sugar mixture. Avoid over-muddling; you want to break them down enough to release their juice and flavor, but not turn them into a complete puree. A few gentle presses should do the trick.
  3. Pour in the Rum: Add the white rum to the glass.
  4. Add Ice: Fill the glass almost to the top with ice cubes. Crushed ice is also a great option for a more refreshing and diluted mojito, especially on a hot day.
  5. Top with Club Soda: Pour club soda over the ice, leaving a little space at the top of the glass.
  6. Stir Gently: Using a long spoon, gently stir the mixture to combine all the ingredients. Be careful not to over-stir, as this can flatten the carbonation from the club soda. A few gentle stirs are all you need.
  7. Taste and Adjust: Taste your mojito! If it’s not sweet enough, add a little more sugar or simple syrup. If it’s too sweet, add a squeeze of lime juice.
  8. Garnish (Optional): For a beautiful presentation, garnish your strawberry mojito with a strawberry slice and a fresh mint sprig. You can also add a lime wedge to the rim of the glass.
  9. Serve Immediately: Enjoy your refreshing strawberry mojito immediately! It’s best served cold and fresh.

Notes

  • Spearmint is the classic choice for mojitos.
  • Gentle muddling is key to avoid bitterness.
  • Use ripe, juicy strawberries for the best flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness and tartness to your preference.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the rum and replace it with more club soda or sparkling water.
