These Taco Cups are a delightful twist on traditional tacos, featuring seasoned ground beef or turkey in crispy wonton wrappers, topped with fresh ingredients like cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. Perfect for parties or family gatherings, they are easy to make and sure to impress!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 package of wonton wrappers (about 48 wrappers)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)
  • Cooking spray or olive oil for greasing

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula (about 5-7 minutes).
  2. Drain any excess fat from the skillet to keep the taco cups from becoming greasy.
  3. Add the taco seasoning and 1 cup of water to the meat. Stir well to combine.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5-10 minutes, or until the sauce thickens, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Lightly grease a muffin tin with cooking spray or olive oil.
  8. Press a wonton wrapper into each muffin cup, covering the bottom and sides. Repeat for all 12 cups.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  10. Let the wonton cups cool for a few minutes before filling.
  11. Fill each wonton cup with a generous amount of the seasoned meat mixture, about three-quarters full.
  12. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the meat in each cup.
  13. Return the filled taco cups to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  14. Let the taco cups cool for a few minutes before handling.
  15. Prepare your toppings: chop lettuce, dice tomatoes, and slice black olives if using.
  16. Top each taco cup with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, a dollop of sour cream, and sprinkle with chopped green onions.
  17. Optionally, add sliced black olives for extra flavor.
  18. Arrange the taco cups on a serving platter and enjoy! They are great for parties, game days, or family dinners.
  19. Serve warm or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
